OTR Independent Contractor Position

SUMMARY: Provides expedited delivery of freight and/or consumer goods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform expedited transports in safe and timely manner.

  • Complete a daily inspection of vehicle before start of the day.

  • Driver must be courteous, patient, and professional at all times, as well as neat and clean in appearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the independent contractor is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The independent contractor must regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, maps and or text messages regarding pick up and drop off locations.

  • All drivers must be at least 25 years of age and have a current valid driver license, with no suspension or revocation within the last five years, along with no more than one chargeable accident or moving violation in the last three years.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

This position is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 100 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and operate laptop or mobile phone keyboards. Independent contractors are required the ability to speak normally and use normal or aided vision and hearing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
